Second Ride Along and Dental Woes Yesterday pretty much sucked. The ride along went okay, though it had its dull moments. The first stop wasn't bad, an old Russian guy walked around with us and dispensed some nice advice about my love life. He also talked about how to reshingle houses, etc. That was kind of fun because he's just on that border of English where you have to pay strict attention to really grasp what he's talking about. As he often paused for comment, it kept me focused on following him. I also made a few residential contacts while wandering with the tech. That didn't go too badly either. We also stopped by the warehouse/corportate offices of this one company I've been trying to crack over voicemail. Fortunately, I spoke up and got the right contact information to call those I need to speak to directly. Unfortunately, that company seems to already be using us for a lot of their facilities. There is also another rep managing the accounts, though that rep is no longer with us, so the whole kit and kaboodle might be up for grabs. Will ask my boss today after he checks in everyone else. Anyway, the work wasn't that hard but the walking killed us both. I was glad to hear that admission from my co worker at the end of the day. I thought it was just me because I'm so out of shape, but no, it was a rough day. I felt a little bad for him too, because he had to drop me off to do three stops in one at this big plant an hour away. I got out early, but he probably had a late day. Poor thing. After killing time at the library, eating, and whatnot, I decided to try to go to the dentist. I got lost several times in Farmington/Livonia area. Part of it wasn't my fault because Middlebelt was closed where I needed to make my turn. So, with a tiny Yahoo map, I had to figure out a way to reroute myself. I did it, eventually, and I was glad I gave myself an hour to find the place. I sorely needed it. Of course, I forgot the route I took so going home I got lost all over again. [Damn residential "immediate service only" clients wasting my time.] As for the dentist, that was a waste of time and money. After driving around all over Livonia, I waited for a long time to be told that they can't do jack for me. They don't have an oral surgeon on staff, though they did give me a referral to someone closer to work. Problem is, I paid $110.00 to hear this. If I ever want to go back to Sears Dental I do have all their intial exam and x-rays completed, but their starting price for cleanings is like $66.00 and that's if you have no gum disease, which I am sure I do. Okay, just called the oral surgeon. No consoltation days until the 23rd. Yeah. I think I might just leave these buggers in unless I can find another oral surgeon in the area. Good times here. Oh well, at least I have the x rays whenever the insurance kicks in and I do decide to do it. That's something, right? Don't know what my boss wants to do with me today so I'm going to cut this short. I will try to do a review of 102 Minutes over the weekend as it has some really good information and analysis that I think you need to hear. Daphne |
