Reading and Writing Just in case you care, I am still out here. I'm busting ass on Trust Your Gut right now in hopes to meet the Thursday deadline. So far, the edit is going really well. The first half has greatly improved with removing cliche and awkward phrases. I've also been varying sentence structure whenever possible. On the rough I thought all the "I" statements made the reader focus on the character, but really it reads better with more visceral elements. So, the new copy will include more fear, paranoia, and gut level reactions instead of narration. I'm also taking more liberties with reality, especially with city descriptions, but I think the tone is correct, even if some of the sights might not be. Overall, it should be tons better, even though I'm still working on the ending. I'll throw it up here when its done. Super thanks to my editing volunteer, Andrew. I'm also trying to cram the last of Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72 into the next couple of days as that book has to go back. Lazing on the internet just isn't useful in either case. Too bad winter is coming and we're still in Michigan. Pest control is going to bottom out. That should be a nice bit of suckage. We'll see. At least it isn't snowing down here yet. Another puzzle; my mom didn't send back the birthday card I sent her, but she never acknowledged it either. Does that mean she burnt it? Or is she holding onto it, trying to get ready to say something? I always wonder about her. Anyway, off to read and write, though not in that order. Daphne |
