Waterford Couple Okay, I am so unmotivated to write anything here as not much is going on. I'm just doing the usual; getting leads, working through chains of command, etc. So, overall, life is pretty dull. We did meet a cool new couple Thursday night. They're from Waterford, but they don't get out much. I thought they had young kids, but they're in middle school. They just seem like they're so happy to get out anywhere, that I assumed they must have small kids. They're fairly silly, however, and I know I shouldn't make fun. I live in a trailor park right now, so I'm a redneck too. They're both from Kentucky with soft accents, and Michigan seems like a big place. They made some cool comparisons, but overall they were just fun to be around. I did feel a twinge of what upper class people must feel around us, but it was nice to meet real people for once. They're newbies in the swinging scene, but that's cool too because there wasn't too much pressure to do anything. Well, her man did get drunk and start telling us to kiss each other, but it was so enthusiastically rendered that I couldn't help but laugh. Most of the date we spent shooting pool in a bowling alley, which was fine with us. The drinks were extremely overpriced, so we didn't have much, but they really seemed to enjoy themselves. So, it was a semi interesting night for a weeknight date that ends at ten o'clock. Anyway, I managed to get a draft out for this sex worker anthology. Its a complete rough, and I don't know if I like it. I wanted to submit the chapter "Trust Your Gut" as it describes an almost universal incident in sex work. In my case, it was a first meeting on a street corner with someone I didn't feel comfortable with. Problem is, I don't want the selection/chapter to sound preachy or contrived. Yes, it has the obvious moral, but there has to be a way to write it so its palatable. I like some of the description I have, but I don't know if the story flows. So, if anyone wants to read a cleaned up rough in a few days, please email me. I could use all the help, as usual, that I can get. Oh, and if there's any ball breaking editors listening, please email. I could use more constructive criticism than folks who tell me a generic "Its good." Thanks. Off to write a column after paperwork. Daphne |
