Thank Yous All right, I did the one major chore I swore I'd do today. I probably should get going after the next short story on trying to reach those executives who were out early this morning. Usually, I just leave voicemail and move on, most of these leads seem dead anyway, but I'm going to worry the ones for Kellogg and the new shopping complex a little longer. Besides, I haven't gotten the human no back yet, so its worth a shot, though I am getting rather good at the voicemail. Heh, so good in fact I just got a call back on the condos I was trying to work. Sadly, one of the other reps has already been working that angle long before I got into it because he works with the management associations. Arrgggh oh well. At least I found the end of that trail. Anyway, it really wasn't a major chore, just the only thing I could think of doing at work. I busted out a nice and pretty thank you note for the business my boss and I inspected on Tuesday. I made it all mine, invested in the stamps and nice floral artsy cards and everything. I wrote my own little message, decided to print instead of my failing script that I haven't used in years *VIVA TYPING!*, and signed it though I crammed a little too much to fit in a "sincerely". And yes, I did add a business card in so they can see my name because I know my signature is nearly illegible these days. I still need to stick it in the box at the end of the day, but I hope he finds it a nice surprise. I decided to send those out each time I make it to the inspection stage, so I saved the message I created and I'm looking forward to mailing them. According to the selling book, as well as my boss that really liked the idea and made me show it off a little, thank yous aren't done that often anymore so they really make you stand out from the crowd. I think that's a good thing, and I don't mind writing them, so I'm going to send out as many as possible. Let's just hope I get some better leads going on sometime soon. Tomorrow is my "official" sales interview with Chuck, whom I haven't spoken more than three sentences with at any given interval, and that should be interesting. I managed to spend $175 on clothes at Kohl's yesterday to prepare for, hopefully, my new business life. I plan on wearing my new black jacket and one of those nice tops tomorrow, which I hope will make my words sound more professional, if nothing else. (Don't worry, I made sure everything I bought would survive the sweltering car. I'm not looking forward to prospecting in that heap all day, but I'll do it if it gets me more money.) Beyond that, still just living. The phone is making me insane, and I know I need to call some leads back again, but I'll survive. One of these days, I might even capitulate and clean the house. I'm sick of doing stuff after work, however, so don't expect that to change any time soon. Anyway, got to go learn how to post batches of this hoohah. Daphne |
