Good Shit Stupid Shit If I could only stop doing stupid shit, I might actually get somewhere one of these days. Oh well, the stupid shit does keep my sense of humor going if nothing else. Let's just hope it doesn't invade this morning's meeting. And by stupid shit, I mean trying to off road my Jag. I've really got to stop doing that. I ended up in yet another ditch last night looking for the library because I made the turn into it too late. Fortunately, and this is wholly reflected in the new story collection I'm reading Kindness of Strangers, some blue collar guy pulled over and helped me get a nudge to roll it downhill. He tried to assure me that the wet ground wouldn't do much damage to the undercarriage, and it doesn't seem to have affected it. That's good. What's bad is my decision to bypass the local library branch because that was an omen and go to the other newer South Lyon branch. Of course, I learn that I can't use that one because we're from New Hudson so I have to go back to the first one all over again. That's okay though. I'm still saying prayers for the nice gentleman that helped me out of the ditch. I might even write a little story about it myself. I am going to miss the Brighton library, however. I guess I can use this card at a few other branches like the Novi one, but I've got to figure out where that one is located. I checked out the Lyon Township branch and it sucks. The only redeeming value lies in the white haired old lady librarian. She's cool. I always love seeing grandma types at the library. I find it fitting. I am going to get involved with the book club too once it starts up again, but the selection there sucks. I can't find anything I like and its super tiny (think one large room tiny). Yeah. So, I might have to conceede and actually start buying books again. If nothing else, I'll donate them there and they'll have a nice little place going at the end of the year. Or I'll just check out the Novi branch. If they're better off and an easy drive, I might be able to kill lunch breaks there picking up material. That would be nice. And yes, I am off my Anne McCaffery kick. I finished most of her Science Fiction that we had in the house. I opted out of Planet Pirates due to size, but I got through the rest of the of the non-Pern stuff. She's not a bad writer, but one does get tired of reading the same style over and over again. Plus, the whole telepathic theme gets annoying. Beyond that, and read in moderation, McCaffery isn't bad. I just knew I didn't want to get bogged down by the Pern series again. Its almost 9am. Wish me well! Daphne |
