Quick Casino Review from a Non-Gambler As life is getting insane, this probably won't take too long. I was hoping to have a client or two today (as I am now FLAT broke) but they've all disappeared. I don't know what's going on with the world these days, but someone must be having fun screwing with me. Anyway, last night Jewboy, a friend or two, and I went to Motor City, MGM Grand, and the Greektown casinos. We generally stayed about an hour, hour and a half, and I spent most of the time wandering around with one of my guy buddies. I was half debating about staking out the bar and wasting my $20 on drinks, but he wanted to play a few slots so I did too. Didn't win anything, but it was okay. At the end of the night, I was wishing I had a couple hundred on me so I could play blackjack (I watched him play roulette at Motor City), and that only emphasized my financial problems (speaking of which, I still need to pay the bills and the rent). Generally speaking though, Greektown is the best one in Detroit. I wouldn't waste my time with MGM as it only has one floor and it's fairly tiny. The waitstaff there have the sexiest uniforms, with corsets and everything!, but that's about the only selling point. Motor city is all right, but uniforms there were kind of weird, and the place wasn't as nice. Motor City does have three levels though, which beats MGM, but it's really smokey in there except for the non-smoking floor. We did had a good laugh at spotting this crowd of older men in lavander suits at the lounge, though. Oh, and the Motor City lounge was probably the best place to sit the whole evening, but Greektown has some decent people watching spaces too. Speaking of which, all the casinos were PACKED. I think I figured out where everyone in Detroit is these days. Not on the streets, just losing their money at the tables. I did have a fun time checking out various characters, but I think roaming around alone might have been better for that, though conversation when I got bored did help. Mostly, I just checked out the buildings and marveled at the Greektown waterfall in Fishbone's and lost some money at the slots. Maybe, with some damn luck, I can make it up sometime next week. I'm losing patience for this business though, so we'll see how long I keep it up. Daphne |
