Rejection Day! Rotten day. I don't know how I stayed so cheery throughout it. It must've been the weather. The slightly cool rain was a nice change from all this humidity. So, I got, what five major rejections today? I guess that I Ching was right about that decrease cycle. Arrrghh. I'm still somewhat miffed over the big restaurant one because I've been chasing that for weeks. I still have half a mind to go back in there and try to talk to the head chef myself. As everything has been done over the phone, through other people, etc., I almost want the closure of getting the rejection from the correct person. I probably shouldn't do that, however. Its probably bad business. I've also got to ask my coworkers/boss what I should do with these rejections. I did a proposal today and they didn't want me to leave the paperwork because the cost wasn't any less through us. So, when do I try to call them back? Should I even bother? What about this one I overbid on and I know I can lower the cost? Should I bother that guy in the spring? Or leave it alone? Arrrghh I just don't know these days. I'm also betting tomorrow is a good day for the rejections too. I have to call back on that big condo proposal. We had a quick meeting about it, but I couldn't read how that went at all. I probably shot myself in the foot talking about extra services, which I won't do again if that's the case. I also have this roach motel I'm trying to sell, but I doubt that will go through either. I called the management company(ish) and I got this East Indian guy. They want to go to quarterly service, not monthly, and I tried to tell him that it would cost the same, but you'd be charged for service calls, so really monthly is a better deal. Of course, his boss was on the other line, so he has to relay that to him. Not knowing the capacity for his English skills, I remain doubtful if the whole thing got expressed correctly. I'm also a little confused if his boss was on the line with my company as I got a text message right when I hung up saying to call them. I hope that's not the case, but you never know. I'd also like to hope they're not cheap bastards, but that's usually the case with pest control. No concept of value, just lowest bidder wins. Arrrghh. Anyway, I guess I should edit this column. I've got today and tomorrow to finish it. Should be quick going. Then its off to either reading or violent video games. Lord knows, I need them. Oh, and can someone make a pill that I can take so I won't worry so much? Please? Double Oh, if anyone from my personal life who hasn't been phoned yet wants a free lunch at Real Seafood Company in a couple of weeks, please email me. The major catch is a boring financial planning discuss, but the food is really good at well worth sitting through that. Daphne |
