My First Dine and Dash...Thanks for Shitty Service Baker's!! Thought I should record this, as I keep saying I'll do one of these, but I've never actually done one. :D I got the perfect opportunity to Sunday morning though, so we took it and ran. Though, really, it was the staff's fault more than ours. We went to Baker's in Milford, a pretty upscale kind of place that usually boasts several antique cars in its lot as its a major local cruising site, for Sunday brunch. I pulled over on my way to somewhere in downtown Milford thinking that I've never tried Baker's so it might be worth a shot. We went in and I was stoned so I couldn't figure out my drink order under pressure. Nicely asking the waitress to return after our trip through the buffet line, I headed off to see what I could see. The buffet was EXTREMELY nice, only to be topped by the taste of the fresh fruit and the awesomeness of the four kinds of dessert including cream puffs!! Long story short, I took advantage of all the nice food and happily gorged myself in addition to pocketing some scones for later snacking. Well, problem was, that our waitress never came back. We were seated in the bar area as that was the smoking side, but after my slight conversation with her we never saw her again. She did leave a cup of coffee and two ice waters on our table, but never came back to check on us. We waited a while, tried to get the attention of the lone waitress who would attend to her table every ten minutes or so, but nada. Couldn't even get the coffee refilled! So, after waiting a little while to see if anyone wanted to give us a check, I suggessted that we just leave. They didn't care enough about us to see if I wanted a real drink, so why would she come back with the check? Hell, she was blonde so she probably even forgot we were there! We were both a little cheesed, so we decided to try it. Dan tried to attract someone's attention a few times, but I told him to stop bothering and look casual. We headed out, adrenaline rushing, and the hostess bid us a good day. We passed her and headed out the front door, nobody chasing after us. I threw on my shades and headed to the car. I had some trouble pulling out as quickly as I liked (didn't want anyone to see my plates), but we were gone. The food was hella good so I thanked God for letting us eat for free, especially when it was so nice. The only problem is that if I ever want to go back there for brunch, I still won't know how much it is, presuming they didn't tape us for their banned files. It was fun though. Probably would've been more daring had it been deliberate, and with better waitstaff. Overall, it was kind of lame, but its a start. Daphne |
