The Downside of the Legit Job Not much time, and not a whole lot to note, as I still need to cook some corn for my breakfast before heading out. Had a little scare with Willow a moment ago, but it's gone so I think it was just hiccups. The lump is still on her side and I won't be able to see the vet until next weekend, but hopefully I'll have some money then or it will go away and just be a cyst. Work is going all right, mostly dull, but I'm getting the hang of their system, which is the main thing. I don't have the drug test results yet, but I assume they'd tell my boss by Friday. I'm going to wait until Wednesday, possibly, to know for sure. I'm fairly certain they wouldn't tell me if I passed, though I stated a concern so I might be able to ask on the sly, all depends what sort of reception I'm getting. The clinic said they'd send them in 2-3 days and confirmed that he'd know by the end of the week at the latest, so I feel fairly confident that things should be all right, but we'll see. There are some downsides to the job though. Pest control leaves gaps for some scary critter stories. We passed around a dead German roach yesterday so we knew what they looked like. I didn't care for that. That led to some scary roach stories too, one of which involved a handicapped guy taking his prosthetic off to reveal a swarm running out of his knee. (That's the shortened version too, folks.) Scary. I was also told the tale of the 5lb rat that was brought into the office (dead) in a bucket because of its size. Both were caught at hospitals too, if that doesn't scare you nothing will. On top of that, we got to hear roadkill stories most of yesterday as well, and this was just the office talk! I got a call about *probably* termites in a woman's washer but she didn't know what kind of bugs they were and really wasn't interested in climbing into the machine to find out. (I don't blame her!) So, I did the usual and had someone call her, but the gross factor is pretty high in this job. Guess its a good thing I've never been scared of bugs. Other than that, I got to get on that corn before packing Willow up for the day and running into Novi. Gas is driving me into the poorhouse, but I guess I'll live. I'm making less money, but it's legit, and eventually shit will turn around. Daphne |
